Our black flat top 6x6 post caps are made of the same ASA resin we use for all of the fence post caps in the Plateau series and they are made in the USA. Automobile and marine vehicle manufacturers use ASA resin in their products because it is UV and impact resistant. It is such a touch material; we offer customers who purchase any of our ASA resin fence post caps, a ten-year warranty for damages related to discoloration, fading, or warping.
Our ASA resin fence post toppers and deck post caps are superior to comparable wood products in every way. They’re designed to withstand Mother Nature at her worst, and they will never require maintenance. There is a substantial price difference between our black flat top fence post caps (and all of our other ASA resin post toppers) compared to wooded post caps, so you’ll save a lot of money on the purchase price. But since they last so much longer, they’re even more economical.
Our black flat top (plateau) series 6x6 post caps come in two sizes: Nominal (or Standard) and Actual (or True.) The lumber industry uses these two terms to distinguish between their different measurements. Nominal (also called Standard) refers to planks that were cut when they were still rough and green (not yet dried.) Timber that is labeled with the nominal designation may have two measurements on its tag. The second measurement is the accurate one because it accounts for the shrinkage that occurs during drying. Actual (or true) refers to wood that was cut after it dried. Any plank that is labeled with the word Actual is true to size. If the label says the wood is 6x6, then the label is accurate.
